The MMA-4XR is a self-explanatory 'minimalist' audiophile 4-channel microphone pre-amplifier and as such has no Operation Manual. Most users find that any questions they do have are answered here, but more help and information is readily available by contacting Prism Sound directly.

No. The unit incorporates balanced transformerless low-noise input circuits.

Check that the phantom power is switched on if required by the microphone.

Phantom power is a +48V DC supply which can be fed through resistors to both legs of each balanced microphone input in order to provide power to a capacitor microphone.

Extremely unlikely. The current-limiting resistors provide protection. But only turn on the phantom power when using the relevant type of mic.
