ADA-8XR technology takes its debut on the US rental scene
Advanced
Audio Rental has become the first pro audio rental company in
the US to incorporate Prism Sound’s new ADA-8XR
multi-channel converter and processor units into a full 48
I/0 Prism Pro Tools hire system.
Recently awarded the coveted PAR Excellence Award 2005 by Pro Audio
Review and nominated for the 2006 TEC Awards, the precision
eight-channel ADA-8XR operates at sampling rates up to 192kHz and
boasts even greater analogue performance than Prism Sound’s
successful ADA-8 converters.
Paul Levy, head of Advanced Audio Rental, says:
“We’ve stocked Prism ADA-8 converters for some
time, but when the company brought out the new ADA-8XR units we
realised they were particularly useful for the film community because
they operate at sampling rates of up to 192kHz. They are 100%
compatible with Pro Tools HD and, because they do not require a
Digidesign 192 I/O interface, they are ideal for people working on
location or moving around from studio to studio.”
Advanced Audio Rental has bought six units and Levy is anticipating great
demand from European producers and composers who are completing Pro
Tools-based projects in Hollywood.
“The Prism Pro Tools configuration is already
well-established in Europe, but until now it hasn’t been
possible for visiting producers and composers to start or complete a
project in a seamless way using equipment they feel comfortable
with,” he explains.
Prism Sound’s converters are widely regarded as the industry
standard when it comes to analogue and digital processing and are
already in use at many of the world’s top recording
facilities including Metropolis, Air and Abbey Road in London; Sterling
Sound in New York and Marcussen Mastering in Los Angeles. Robbie
Williams, Sting, Coldplay, Metallica and David Bowie are just some of
the artists whose albums have benefited from the Prism Sound treatment,
while in the movie business the sound teams behind films such as the
Lord of The Rings trilogy, Harry Potter and Star Wars have all used the
company’s equipment.
