Music maker Kloe Rahilly wins an Orpheus

A Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire interface is winging its way to Kloe Rahilly, who won the unit after entering a prize draw held at the Technoblitz trade show in Montreal, Canada.

Kloe works at Ubisoft in the sound department where she is production coordinator for music and sound effects. The department handles all of the in-game sounds and marketing trailers for the video games that Ubisoft produces.

In her spare time Kloe is a keen music maker and it was this passion that inspired her to enter the prize draw.

"Making music has been a hobby of mine for about seven years," she says. "I specialized in sound production at university and worked for Ninja Tune Records before I landed my position at Ubisoft. I'm also an avid photographer with 35mm and medium format cameras. I like kicking it old school."

It was one of Kloe's colleagues who brought the prize draw to her attention and sent her the link to enter online.

"I got interested in Prism Sound at Technoblitz.," she explains. "I had never heard of the Orpheus but I did some research and decided it was such a great piece of kit that I had to enter. As I could only ever dream of owning one, I figured why not take a chance?"

Kloe says she couldn't believe her eyes when she read the email saying she had won.

"I ran down the hallway to where the audio techs were and yelled out "I WON!" I've never won anything like that before so it was a pretty surreal experience. I still can't believe it," she says.

Kloe plans to use her Orpheus for her own music production and is looking forward to working with such a high quality unit.

"I'm really excited and can't wait to record with the Orpheus. I was watching video reviews online and it's incredible to think that I now own one. I don't have much in the way of a studio or equipment (aside from a MacBook Pro with Pro Tools and Reason), but I'm excited to have this as my centerpiece to build around, and up the rest of my gear," she says.

But before the Orpheus makes it into her home studio she is generously planning to leave it at Ubisoft for a while so that her co-workers, who also entered the contest, can make use of it. Let's hope they allow her to eventually take it home!
