The Chairworks adds three more ADA-8XR Converters
Cambridge, UK: : After achieving 'impressive' results with its first Prism Sound ADA-8XR multichannel modular AD/DA converter, The Chairworks residential recording studio has now invested in three more units, giving the facility a total of 48 channels of 'superb quality audio'.
The Chairworks control room
Ryan Jarvis, director of The Chairworks, says: "The addition of the one Prism Sound unit made such a huge difference to the sound we were achieving that we had no hesitation in buying three more. It has always been our intention to offer the best recording facilities possible to our customers and if that means investing in the best sounding equipment, then that's what we will do. We want The Chairworks to be on a par with studios like Abbey Road and with this latest investment in Prism Sound conversion, we now feel we are achieving this aim."
Based in Castleford, near Leeds, The Chairworks is equipped with a 4000 G Plus console and an impressive range of outboard equipment. The facility has several recording spaces, including a mammoth 1250sqft live room coupled with a 500sqft control room. It also has residential accommodation for up to 10 people and specialises in mixing and tracking rock and pop bands.
"The Prism Sound ADA-8XR converters offer stunning clarity and are exceptionally well suited to the work we do here," adds Simon Humphries, chief engineer at The Chairworks. "We are delighted that we can now offer Prism Sound quality across all 16 in/48 out channels."
The ADA-8XR is a multi-channel AD/DA converter that can be configured in numerous ways using plug-in modules to suit a very wide variety of applications. It can be a 16 channel AD converter, a 16 Channel DA converter or an 8 channel AD/DA converter. It can be a multi-channel FireWire interface, or an AES/EBU / AES3 / SPDIF Digital to Analogue or Analogue to Digital converter. It can act as a high resolution Pro Tools Interface for recording or post-production. Similarly it can work with a wide range of other popular Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) including Logic, Cubase, Nuendo and others. In fact, there's not a lot it can't do when it comes to digital audio conversion.
Since opening for business in 2009, The Chairworks has hosted sessions for many rock and pop bands and attracted bookings from a range of producers based in the North of England. These include Ken Thomas, best known for his work with Moby, who recently used to the studio to record a number of tracks for the new British Sea Power album.
