Prism Sound and SADiE sponsor Sounding Out conference
Cambridge, UK: Prism Sound and SADiE will be sponsoring this year's Sounding Out conference, which takes place at Bournemouth University from 8-10 September, 2010.The event, now in its fifth year, provides a forum for discussion and interaction between sound artists of all kinds. This year's theme is Soundworlds - Sonic Arts, Film and Radio, which will bring forward some convergent works and writings in this area.
Conference organisers Professor Seán Street and Dr Alain Renaud said: "Sounding Out is an international event, being held at Bournemouth University for the first time. As the major forum for discussion and interaction between sound artists of all kinds, it is attracting talent from around the globe, offering perspectives ranging from the world of music, radio, film and sonic arts. We are delighted that Prism Sound is on board as one of our key sponsors. BU already has an excellent relationship with Prism Sound as supplier of our SADiE editing software for our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and we are delighted that they are joining us to celebrate the world of sound."
Among the keynote speakers at Sounding Out 2010 are composer, improviser, cellist and music researcher Chris Chafe, who has an interest in computer music composition and interactive performance.
He will be joined by French composer and artist Jérôme Joy; academic and composer Jonathan Harvey; independent radio documentary maker Kaye Mortley; Pedro Rebelo, a composer/digital artist working in electroacoustic music, digital media and installation; Larry Sider, Director of the School of Sound and previously Head of Editing, Sound and Music at the National Film and Television School (UK) and Dirk Maggs, who writes and directs across all media but has won awards and distinction by evolving Radio Drama into 'Audio Movies', combining dynamic scripts, cinematic effect, evocative music and cutting edge technology (he pioneered the use of Dolby Surround in BBC Radio).
