Kevin Peters thinks his Orpheus is amazing!

Cambridge, UK: US College student Kevin Peters was delighted to learn that he had won a Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire Computer Interface after entering a prize draw while attending the US leg of the company's recent Mic To Monitor tour.

Kevin, a Sound Design/Audio Post-production major at Emerson College, Boston, is aiming to become a sound editor for Hollywood films. He has just finished his junior year and when he's not studying he plays rhythm guitar and played in a number of bands during high school.

"I have always had a passion for music and although I wouldn't describe my home set-up as a studio, it does allow me to record and experiment with my music," he says. "I have a Mac Book Pro running Logic and Pro Tools, M-Audio Studiophile speakers, an mbox 2 mini, an M-Audio keystation - and now a beautiful Prism Sound Orpheus."

Designed to appeal to both recording professionals and serious project studio owners, Orpheus is a 1U, 19-inch rackmount 192kHz-capable computer-based Firewire interface that incorporates many of the features and the quality of Prism Sound's top-of-the-range converter products.

Orpheus is fully software-controllable via a cross-platform control application (available for PCs running Windows XP or Macs running OS X), and is therefore ideally suited to the computer-based musician who wants to work with the flexibility offered by modern computer-based DAWs but wishes to maintain the quality of signals from analogue recording sources or processors in his digital production environment.

Kevin says he feels honoured to win an Orpheus, especially as this is the first time he's been lucky in any competition.

"It has just been really amazing," he adds. "After getting to use it I was amazed at how superior the sound quality was compared to any of my other equipment. It has done wonders to my recordings and it is also very easy to use. Functionality-wise, there is so much you can do with it. Being someone with limited equipment it has opened up many doors for me and will be a great tool for my future audio career."

Kevin attended Prism Sound's Mic To Monitor session in Boston and has nothing but praise for the event.

"It was a really useful experience and I am so thankful to everyone who put together the Mic to Monitor Tour, and anyone else who made this opportunity possible," he says.
