Steve Joyce wins an Orpheus at LIMS
Cambridge, UK: This year's LIMS show resulted in a flurry of competition entries from visitors who were keen to win an Orpheus FireWire computer interface in Prism Sound's free draw. Among them was Steve Joyce from South Wales, who was lucky enough to have his name pulled out of the hat."I entered quite a few competitions at the show but wasn't going to enter the Orpheus one because I thought the unit was a bit out of my league," Steve says. "I knew Prism Sound equipment was at the very top end of the market and that its products were aimed more at pro studios than the typically lower budget home studio user like me. Nevertheless, the sales guy on the stand persuaded me to enter and I am now so glad I did."
Music is a hobby for guitarist Steve and he has only recently started recording. He is currently building a DAW PC, which he plans to run with Windows 7. The Orpheus will now form the centrepiece of Steve's recording set-up, giving him all the connectivity and sound quality he needs as he moves between the analogue and digital domains.
"I have already experimented with Orpheus and found it very easy to use," Steve says. "The sound quality is excellent and there are more than enough inputs and outputs for my setup."
Steve adds that when he received an email telling him he had won, he thought it was spam! "My initial reaction was "here we go again". Then I thought, actually, I did enter a competition to win an Orpheus, and the Prism Sound domain name looked genuine so I started to think again. I rang Prism Sound and was delighted when the win was confirmed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prism Sound for the Orpheus as it is one of those pieces of gear that many hobbyists like me can only dream of owning."
