DJ Woody wins an Orpheus

Cambridge, UK: Eric Woodiwiss, aka DJ Woody, is now the proud owner of a Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire interface after winning the unit in a competition that the company ran over the summer.

"I'm really delighted to have won this competition, especially as it is the first time I have ever won anything," Woodiwiss says. "I was actually looking for a new interface with more mic inputs, but I never thought I'd be able to afford something as big as an Orpheus. I couldn't be more thrilled and I just hope my good luck continues!"

As well as being a DJ, Woodiwiss is also an aspiring producer and a club promoter who concentrates on bringing underground minimal & techno music to Nashville, USA, which is where he is based.

The Prism Sound Orpheus unit has now taken pride of place in his PC-based project studio, which is equipped with Ableton Live, Cubase SX, Reason, Soundforge, a vintage Casio synthesizer and an Edirol keyboard controller.

"I've already started using Orpheus in place on my old M-Audio pre-amp/interface," he says. "Orpheus is helping to bring all the various elements of my studio together more seamlessly. It has potential not only as a larger interface but also as an interface that will work well to integrate a digital workstation into my DJ setup at parties.

Woodiwiss adds that he entered the competition because he was drawn to Orpheus' near-zero latency features.

"Now that I have got it, it will almost certainly prompt me to update my studio so that my DJ setup is more fully integrated into my production environment," he says.
