Orpheus wins Pro Audio Review Award at AES
Cambridge, UK, November 2007: Prism Sound's eagerly awaited high-quality FireWire computer interface, Orpheus, has become the proud recipient of one of Pro Audio Review magazine's eagerly coveted PAR Excellence awards. The awards, which are now in their 11th year, are determined by a select group of audio industry professionals, PAR contributors and Editors, headed by Pro Audio Review's Publisher John Gatski, who roam the halls of the Autumn AES show each year, looking for the most innovative product designs amongst those being demonstrated for the first time at that year's show. At the end of the exhibition, the team gather in a secret location to nominate and vote on their findings, based on the carefully defined criteria of Product Innovation, Value and Performance, before the final list of winners is announced. Many hundreds of products are launched at AES every year, but only 45 from this year's crop were selected to receive the PAR Excellence award.
Orpheus FireWire interface
Orpheus, which has just begun shipping worldwide, was exhibited in its final form at the AES, and was spotted by the PAR judges during the show; the Prism Sound design team were notified shortly afterwards. "It's a great honour to receive a PAR Excellence award, comments Jody Thorne, Sales & Marketing Manager at Prism Sound, "We're absolutely delighted to receive this PAR Excellence award from Pro Audio Review. Like a lot of manufacturers, we feel it's one of the finest accolades to receive, because it's an award that recognises the strength of a design in a highly competitive market. The professionals behind these awards have seen so many product designs over the years, but when you receive one of these, it tells you that they feel your design is worth singling out for distinction. For us, it's a vindication of all the hard work that has gone into designing Orpheus."
Designed for the discerning project studio recording market, Orpheus, a 192kHz-capable, 19-inch 1U A-D/D-A FireWire computer interface offering eight simultaneous analogue inputs, ten digital inputs, mic preamp and multi-channel monitoring control facilities, a built-in mixer and eight simultaneous outputs.
