Prism Sound converters make their James Bond debut
London, November 2006: 007 returned this week with the UK premier of Casino Royale, the first James Bond movie to feature heartthrob Daniel Craig. And Prism Sound is delighted to announce its own small part in the James Bond success story after its ADA-8XR multichannel converters were used to record the film's soundtrack.Composer and producer David Arnold chose London's acclaimed Air Studios to record and mix the score, working alongside Air's in-house engineer Geoff Foster.
During the scoring of Casino Royale, 24 channels of Prism Sound ADA-8XR were added to a 48-track Pro Tools HD system to convert the audio signal.
Geoff Foster says: We recorded the score in our main orchestral room, Lyndhurst Hall, using Prism Sound units for the microphones and for the choir because this was where their superior performance really mattered. Prism Sound converters have long been a standard at Air because they produce such great results and we particularly like using them in this configuration with Pro Tools.
Prism Sound's ADA-8 converter is widely regarded as an industry standard when it comes to analogue and digital processing and is already in use at many of the world's top recording facilities including Air, Metropolis and Abbey Road in London; Sterling Sound in New York and Marcussen Mastering in Los Angeles.
Graham Boswell, founding director of Prism Sound, says: The A/D and D/A converters are the determining factors for today's computer-based recording systems. Prism Sound is privileged indeed to provide the converter of choice not only for Air Studios but also for David Arnold and Geoff Foster on such a high-profile project as Casino Royale. We wish them every success.
Based on Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, Casino Royale stars Daniel Craig as James Bond who is sent to spy on a terrorist cell in Madagascar. The action soon takes him to Montenegro where he is charged with the task of destroying the man bankrolling world terrorism at a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale.
The movie, which was directed by Martin Campbell and also stars Eva Green, opened in the UK on November 17th.
