Matt Schwartz orders his second Prism Sound ADA-8XR
Two years experience with
Prism Sound technology has convinced producer Matt
Schwartz that one is just not enough - which is why he has
ordered a second ADA-8XR
convertor for his London-based studio.
Matt is renowned for a string of Dance hits including Daydream, Dancing
In The Dark, Can You Feel, Body Swerve and Deepest Blue – a
collaboration with vocalist Joel Edwards that went to No. 22 in the
album charts and resulted in two Top 10 singles. He also has his own
Dance music imprint, Destined Records,
which he runs with Gil Goldberg. Established in 2000, Destined has
already had a number of club hits and is considered the cutting edge
electro label of the moment.
Matt’s first Prism Sound ADA-8XR converter was installed in
his
control room at Soho Recording Studios in London’s West End
in
2004 and has been used on every record he’s produced since
then.
These include The Drill, which has been an International club hit in
recent months, and his new album with award winner Matt Cole, which
currently has the working title Distressor.
“It’s not hype that makes me buy gear,”
he says,
“and although Prism is considered to be the top of the line
when
it comes to converters, I still only buy equipment that I get on with.
What was special about Prism was that as soon as I connected my ADA-8XR
I noticed a dramatic change in depth and image. It’s one of
those
units where you say to yourself ‘where have I been? How could
I
have missed that?’”
Prism’s ADA-8XR converter is widely regarded as an industry
standard when it comes to analogue and digital processing and is
already in use at many of the world’s top recording
facilities
including Metropolis, Air and Abbey Road in London; Sterling Sound in
New York and Marcussen Mastering in Los Angeles.
Matt, who has worked with many top acts over the years including Mica
Paris, Arthur Baker, Massive Attack and Tall Paul, says he’s
so
impressed with Prism’s technology that he only wishes the
company
would make a digital desk.
“If they did, I’d be first in line to buy
one,” he
says. “In fact, I’d love to help them design
it!”
