Prism Sound’s New Italian Distributor Achieves Remarkable Success
Italy – July 2005: Prism Sound’s Italian distributor, Paolo Orizio, of Funky Junk Italy, has notched up significant sales success since he was appointed to handle the company’s range of AD/DA converters earlier this year.“Paolo has sold more Prism Sound ADA-8 converters in the last six months than we had previously sold in Italy in the last three years,” says Jody Thorne, sales manager of the Cambridge-based company. “His contacts within the Italian pro audio industry are extremely valuable and we are delighted that he has put his faith and expertise into promoting our products to this important market.”
Prism Sound’s ADA-8 converter is widely regarded as an industry standard when it comes to analogue and digital processing and is already in use at many of the world’s top recording facilities including Metropolis, Air and Abbey Road in London; Sterling Sound in New York and Marcussen Mastering in Los Angeles.
The company recently introduced its new ADA-8XR multi-channel converter and processor, which was awarded the coveted PAR Excellence Award 2005 by Pro Audio Review and nominated for the 2006 TEC Awards. Building on the success of the ADA-8, the XR operates at sampling rates up to 192kHz and boasts even greater analogue performance. Existing ADA-8s can be economically upgraded to XR specification and many facilities are taking advantage of this option.
In recent months, Paulo Orizio has supplied Studio Fuoriporta, near Milan, with one ADA-8 8/8 converter and has also supplied five ADA-8s in various configurations to independent Italian producer Giuseppe Messina.
Padova-based recording facility Ing Matteo Costa has also invested in Prism Sound’s new ADA-8XR unit. This was installed in May as an addition to its existing system, which comprises an ADA-8, an AD2 and a DA2. The system is now being used on a number of jazz and classical recording and post production projects.
The launch of the new ADA-8XR units was warmly welcomed in Italy, particularly by independent engineer Fausto Dasè, who bought an ADA-8XR 8/8, together with an MMA4 mic pre amp and MLA2 compressor, all of which were supplied by Orizio.
“The system is wired into a flightcase with various other pieces of equipment and Fausto thinks it’s amazing,” says Orizio. “He uses it in every studio he works in because it’s very simple to disconnect any other digital interface and hook up his ADA-8XR.”
A full system incorporating eight ADA-8XR units has also been installed in a private studio in Switzerland, which is owned by Italian artist Paolo Meneguzzi’s producer Massimo Scolari. The units were immediately put to work on the artist’s new single for the Sanremo Music Festival and were used on his new album.
Other ADA-8XR units have been supplied to Radiorama Studio, Milan, and TVA Studio, Naples.
