Prism Sound unveils new dScope Series III analyzer
A new generation of audio test system, featuring both analogue and digital signal generation and analysis has been unveiled by Prism Sound.
The new test system, 'dScope series III', redefines expectations in the hitherto notoriously expensive audio test and measurement market. As well as offering high-precision signal-generation and analysis, including multi-tone testing, the dScope generates and analyses carrier degradations including jitter, and displays the carrier eye-pattern.
Running on a notebook or desktop PC under Windows 98, 2000 or XP, the system's electronics are housed in a small external unit occupying the same footprint as a notebook PC. A handy carry-case contains the entire system including the PC, test leads and accessories.
The dScope's user interface is simple and intuitive in performing routine measurements, but the real power of the system lies in its user-programmability: Visual Basic Scripting allows not only automation of test sequences, but can also be applied to many of the dScope's embedded functions, so the user can customise features such as generator waveforms, analyzer weighting filters, detector algorithms and FFT window functions.
Interface measurements are compatible with those already familiar from the Prism Sound DSA-1 hand-held digital signal analyzer. This will ensure that R&D and production-test users of the new system will speak the same language as installation and maintenance staff using the DSA-1.
The DSA-1 remains unique as a hand-portable, battery-powered, trouble-shooting instrument for electrical, timing and data analysis of the AES digital audio interface. DSA-1 features include jitter measurement and generation, versatile signal generation, channel status editing, printing and uploading of test results, user-definable automatic test sequences, and transmission bit-error testing.
