Martin Jones first worked with the founders of Prism Sound 25 years ago at Neve Electronics, where Rupert Neve had appointed him as his Technical Director. Following the launch of the original NECAM pioneering moving-fader mixdown automation system, Martin led the development of the world’s first all-digital broadcast control room (BBC) and the world’s first all-digital recording studio (CTS London). Both Graham and Ian were key players in that ground-breaking achievement.
In 1985 Martin joined Smiths Industries plc Marine Systems Division (Kelvin Hughes Ltd) as Technical Director, and then Managing Director, where he led the development of computer-controlled digital radar and electronic chart systems. Further promotion to Managing Director of the fast-growing Smiths Engineering Division was then followed by 5 years as Director of Technology & Innovation at Smiths Headquarters.
Well-known today for his seasoned practical approach around the Cambridge ‘Silicon Fen’ business scene, he is also a non-executive director of the microsystems motion sensor company ETB Ltd. Currently President of the Innovation Society for the East of England, he is a strong advocate of growth through successful new products. As chairman of the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) Policy Advisory Committee, he emphasises his lifelong passion for quality in test and measurement.
Martin is a Chartered Physicist, and a Member of the Audio Engineering Society.
