Scripts and Automation: dScope Series III Needle meter add-on
This is a single EXE file that uses the data from a dScope Series III Reading to display a moving coil meter.There are times when watching an analogue needle meter is easier than watching a digital display or bargraph - for example, when trimming a control to find a minimum or watching for a trend in a signal that has a lot of variation. This meter provides an emulation of a moving coil needle meter which takes its input from a dScope Reading (a Reading in this context is a separate window in the dScope interface that has a single reading in it.).
Auto-ranging allows the meter scale to zoom in on the minimum and maximum readings in order to show the best resolution and keep the needle near the middle of the scale. Resetting the minimum and maximum (which are indicated by a green and red marker as shown) re-sets the auto-ranging. The meter can also display the limits as set in the dScope Reading window.
Installation
The download is a zip archive that contains two files, an executable (.exe) and PDF documentation. Installation consists of copying the executable to a suitable location and running it by either double clicking on it, or creating a shortcut to it. Un-installing simply consists of deleting the files. The executable is a Visual Basic program which requires the Visual Basic runtime environment to run. If this is not already installed on your computer (most recent operating systems include it), the program will not run. In this case you need to download and install the VB runtime environment from the Microsoft website.
